We've only recently developed STRIPED FISH and so haven't had the chance to apply it to many light pulses, but it is very powerful and can measure even very complex pulses.

STRIPED FISH is the only device ever invented that can measure the complete spatio-temporal field of a single pulse.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial, which describes only a small fraction of our work, but, we hope, enough to pique your interest. For more information about our devices and research, check out our many lectures and writings.  Also, if you have an interesting and/or challenging light-measurement problem, let us know. It's only a slight exaggeration to say that we've never met a light pulse we couldn't measure!

We thank the Optical Society of America for its permission to reprint the many figures of this tutorial that we have published previously in their journals.
